The International Monetary Fund lowered its Japan economic growth estimate for 2026, noting that while fiscal support measures will offer a cushion, higher energy prices continue to weigh on the economy.
In its World Economic Outlook update published late Wednesday, the IMF expects the country's economy to grow 0.6% in 2026, down 0.1 percentage point from the April estimate.
For 2027, the real GDP growth estimate was moved 0.1 percentage point higher from April to 0.7%.
