The business climate in Germany's chemical sector "improved sharply" in August as demand grows amid supply disruptions related to the Strait of Hormuz blockade.
The business climate index climbed to -2.4 points from -26.3 points in July, the ifo Institute said Friday. The indicator for the current business situation rose to 11.6 points from -14.6 points, marking the first positive reading in four years.
Meanwhile, the expectations index increased to -15.5 points from -37.2 points, as companies expect a continued "economic upturn" amid ongoing geopolitical challenges.
