HOYA's (TYO:7741) attributable profit in the fiscal first quarter rose 27% to 65.8 billion yen from 51.8 billion yen a year ago, the optical products manufacturer said in a Friday filing to the Japanese stock exchange.
Earnings per share climbed to 196.58 yen from 151.22 yen a year earlier.
Revenue in the three months ended June 30 also increased 16% year-on-year to 255.7 billion yen from 220.4 billion yen.
The company's shares were up over 4% in recent trade.
