Credit conditions for Hong Kong's small and medium-sized enterprises remained largely stable in the April-June quarter, according to a survey by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority on Monday.
About 78% of SMEs said banks' credit approval stance was "similar" or "easier" than six months earlier, up from 73% in the first quarter, while 22% reported tighter credit approval conditions, compared to 27% in Q1.
Among SMEs that applied for new bank loans, 85% said their applications were fully or partially approved, down from 91% in Q1, according to the release.
Only 3% of the surveyed firms applied for new bank loans during Q2, the release said.
