Hong Kong's Goods Export Volume Rises 34.3% in June

Hong Kong's goods exports rose 34.3% year over year in June in volume terms, according to data from the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) released Thursday.

The pace of growth accelerated from the 25.8% expansion in May.

The volume of goods imports also rose at a slightly faster pace of 27.5% versus 27.4% the previous month.

Over the same period, export prices increased 13.6% year over year, accelerating from 11.8% previously, while import price growth also sped up to 12.7% from 11.1%.

This placed the terms of trade index, or the ratio of the export price index to the import price index, at a 0.8% increase compared with the same month last year.

By destination, total export volume to the U.S. climbed 85.2%, while shipments to India slid 8.8%.

On the supplier side, the volume of imports from South Korea surged 109.2%, while arrivals from Taiwan fell 2.2% year over year.
