Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee on Sunday met China Securities Regulatory Commission chairman Wu Qing to discuss expanding cross-border market connectivity ahead of Monday's launch of the RMB-denominated Government Bond Futures, according to a same-day Hong Kong government press release.
The RMB-denominated product provides offshore investors with an effective risk management tool and aims to attract long-term international capital to participate in the Mainland bond market.
Lee said the launch is a "key step" in strengthening the RMB ecosystem and Hong Kong's offshore RMB business hub status.
