HBM Holdings (HKG:2142) said a U.S. jury found in favor of its unit Harbour Antibodies in a patent infringement lawsuit against Amgen and its subsidiary Teneobio, according to a Monday Hong Kong bourse filing.
The jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware found that Amgen infringed a patent covering Harbour Antibodies' antibody discovery platform, that the infringement was willful, and that the patent is valid.
The jury awarded Harbour Antibodies damages of about $20.2 million, representing the full amount sought at trial.
HBM said the finding of willful infringement allows Harbour Antibodies to seek enhanced damages, which could raise the award to as much as $60.6 million if granted in full by the court.
