Gurin Energy, a Singapore-headquartered renewable energy developer, Wednesday said it has acquired 379 megawatts of electricity business licences for three utility-scale solar projects in South Korea's Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City.
The Jindo Green Solar project and the Jindo Jido-yeomjang Solar Power Project, both located on Jindo Island, secured EBLs for 216 MW and 65 MW respectively, the company said in a statement.
The ground-mounted Goheung Nuri Solar Power Project in Goheung-gun, co-owned by Gurin Energy and Korean renewable energy developer Kumyang Green Power, has acquired 98MW in EBLs so far.
Cumulatively, these projects will have a capacity of about 500 MW when completed, sufficient to meet the annual electricity needs of about 200,000 Korean households, the statement said.
Gurin Energy's South Korean portfolio comprises of 600 MW of solar and wind energy projects, including a 300 MW portfolio acquired in 2025.
South Korea aims to increase its renewable energy capacity to 100 gigawatts by 2030 up from 37 GW currently, the statement said.
