France's private sector activity slumped in August amid a faster pace of decline in demand for local goods and services, preliminary data from S&P Global showed Friday.
The S&P Global Flash France Composite PMI Output Index reached a two-month low of 48.8 in August, against the prior reading of 49.4 and the expected 49.5.
For the manufacturing sector, the PMI was at a four-month high of 51.5, up from the July figure of 49.8 and the consensus estimate of 50.1. On the other hand, services PMI came in at a two-month low of 48.4, compared with the previous 49.6 and the market forecast of 49.4.
