Four American companies--Air Products, Axcelis, Corning, and Pacifico Energy--plan to invest a total of $2 billion, or 2.8 trillion won, in foreign direct investment (FDI) sectors such as semiconductor materials and equipment, advanced materials for displays, and offshore wind power, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said Friday.
Air Products is expanding its semiconductor gas supply facilities in Pyeongtaek, while Axcelis plans to expand its Korean manufacturing facilities for ion implanters, the release said.
Corning is aiming to expand its South Korean manufacturing capabilities and boost equipment investment for advanced materials used in next-generation mobile devices and semiconductors, while Pacifico Energy plans to advance construction of a 3.2-gigawatt offshore wind farm project in South Jeolla province, it said.
