The euro area's private sector activity expanded in September 2026, driven by higher new orders, the fastest output expansion since April 2023, and supported by "solid" growth across manufacturing and services.
The seasonally adjusted S&P Global Flash Eurozone Composite PMI Output Index hit a 41-month high of 53.1, higher than the previous 52 and the expected 51.7, data from S&P Global showed Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the services PMI reached a 10-month high of 53, compared with the earlier reading of 51.6 and the market forecast of 51.4. On the manufacturing side, the PMI was unchanged at 52.7, against the consensus estimate of 52.6.
