Annual inflation in the euro area edged up to 3.2% in May from 3% in April, according to Eurostat flash estimates released Tuesday.
The latest reading is in line with the consensus estimate.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices were 0.1% higher.
Excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, the annual inflation rate came in at 2.5%, higher than the previous 2.2% and expected 2.4%. Month over month, core consumer prices rose 0.3%.
