Annual inflation in the euro area ticked up to 2.9% in July from 2.8% in June, according to Eurostat flash estimates released Friday.
The latest reading is consistent with the consensus estimate.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices were 0.2% higher.
Excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, the annual inflation rate came in at 2.5%, above the previous and expected 2.4%. Month over month, core consumer prices showed zero growth.
