The euro area's seasonally adjusted current account surplus increased to 16 billion euros in April from the revised 15 billion euros in the previous month, European Central Bank data showed Thursday.
The consensus estimate for the month was for a surplus of 18.5 billion euros, according to Investing.com data.
In the 12 months to April, the bloc's current account surplus totaled 269 billion euros, against 351 billion euros a year earlier.
