Empire Company (EMP-A.TO) said Thursday that it beat its goal of sharply cutting food loss and waste across its stores.
Empire and its family of brands reported a 50.3% reduction relative to its 2016 baseline, a statement said.
The company donated more than 3.15 million kilograms of food to local organizations across Quebec, and sold 2.3 million kilograms of "surplus" food through its FoodHero app.
Empire Company shares were last seen down C$1.49 at C$51.01 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
