United Arab Emirates indices closed the last trading day on both sides of the spectrum as heightened tensions in the Middle East prompted investors to adopt a cautious stance.
At the close of Friday trading, the FTSE ADX General Index gained 1.092%, while the DFM General Index was down 0.493%.
US President Donald Trump said he is approaching a "big decision" on whether to resume large-scale military attacks on Iran to end the war, Reuters reported, citing Axios.
Meanwhile, oil prices eased even as daily tanker transit through the Strait of Hormuz fell to single digits amid a flare-up in attacks between Iran-backed Houthis and Saudi Arabia.
"Brent remain slightly above USD 100/bbl. but is heading for its first weekly decline in three weeks as markets wait for clearer evidence that physical flows are normalising. Fresh Saudi-Houthi strikes and risks around the Strait of Hormuz keep a geopolitical premium in place, although any sustained improvement in regional traffic could see that premium unwind further," Danske Bank said.
Back home and on the corporate front, Presight AI Holding (ADX:PRESIGHT) signed two memorandums of understanding with South Korean companies Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator and Dtonic Corp. to collaborate on smart cities, data infrastructure, and cross-border market access. Presight AI closed flat.
Over in Dubai, Ajman Bank (DFM:AJMANBANK) will continue its sponsorship of Ajman Football Club for the eighth consecutive year to support the development of sports in Ajman. Shares of the Dubai-listed lender were 2.72% in the red at the close.
