Russia's biggest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk and surrounding regions were attacked by drones overnight, damaging local infrastructure and threatening to further squeeze critical commodity and energy flows from the area.
According to a statement published on Telegram by Novorossiysk city mayor Andrey Kravchenko, military and air defense forces attempted to repel the assault, noting that "the main strike targeted Novorossiysk" and caused damage to civil infrastructure.
The attack resulted in significant civilian casualties and structural damage across multiple districts.
Mayor Kravchenko confirmed in his Telegram update that four people, including one child, tragically lost their lives, while 29 others were injured, with three in serious condition.
Emergency response and cleanup operations were also deployed across the neighboring Krymsky and Temryuksky districts, though authorities verified that those specific areas sustained no casualties.
