Downer EDI Wins Contracts to Provide Road Maintenance, Incident Response Services on Transurban's New South Wales Assets

Downer EDI (ASX:DOW) won contracts of up to nine years to provide road maintenance and incident response services on Transurban's (ASX:TCL) northern assets in New South Wales, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.

Transurban's northern assets include the NorthConnex tunnel, M2 Motorway, and Lane Cove Tunnel, the filing said.

Service delivery under the New South Wales Incident Response and Maintenance Services (North Region) contracts will start in July for an initial seven-year term, with the option for two one-year extensions.

The company expects total revenue of AU$310 million over the full nine-year term, per the filing.

Downer shares fell 1% in morning trade on Thursday.

BHP Group, Rio Tinto Shares Fall 3% as Exports from Guinea Iron Ore Project Increase

Shares of both BHP Group (ASX:BHP) and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) fell 3% in early trading on Thursday after exports from Guinea's Simandou iron ore project rose in May, according to a media report.Shipments from the project's Morebaya port were 2.2 million tonnes in May, compared with shipments of 1.3 million tonnes in April, according to ship tracking data from Kpler, the Australian Financial Review (AFR) reported on Thursday.The project is expected to ship 120 million tons per year once at full capacity.Traders are waiting to see if supply from Simandou will displace those from Australia and Brazil or merely add to the market.
