Doman Building Materials Group (DBM.TO) second-quarter net income increased to C$31.2 million, from C$27.7 million in the same quarter last year, the company said after-trade on Wednesday.
Doman did not provide per share amounts.
The company said revenue for the quarter ended June 30 increased to a record C$904.5 million, from C$886.7 million in the prior year period. The jump was largely due to higher pricing in certain construction materials categories.
Analysts polled by FactSet had expected revenue of C$912.5 million.
"Our second-quarter results reflect the resilience of our business against a mixed economic backdrop. Financial performance was broadly in line with the same period last year, supported by disciplined execution, operational efficiency and the strength of our diversified platform," said board chair Amar Doman. "While we have seen some improvement in lumber pricing and pockets of firmer demand across certain end markets, broader market conditions remain uncertain, with ongoing variability in housing starts and regional market performance, as well as continued high energy prices and broader inflationary pressures."
Doman Building shares closed up C$0.26 to C$11.82 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
