The global data center energy storage systems market is expected to more than double to $10.48 billion by 2032 from $5.17 billion in 2026, driven by rising demand for reliable power as data center capacity expands, MarketsandMarkets said in a Wednesday statement.
The market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 12.5% from 2026 through 2032, the research firm said.
Growth is being fueled by the expansion of hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data centers, as well as increasing reliance on digital infrastructure across industries including banking and financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and information technology.
The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence and cloud computing is adding to demand for data center capacity and dependable power supplies. Constraints on grid availability are also prompting operators to consider onsite energy solutions, while greater use of renewable power is creating additional opportunities for energy storage systems, MarketsandMarkets said.
Asia Pacific is expected to post the fastest growth during the forecast period, according to the report.
By technology, supercapacitor energy storage systems are projected to be the fastest-growing segment, with a CAGR of 16.5% between 2026 and 2032. Cloud and hyperscale data centers are expected to be the fastest-growing data center type, expanding at a CAGR of 14.8%.
The information technology and telecommunications sector is expected to be the fastest-growing enterprise vertical. By application, renewable integration and grid services is forecast to record the highest growth rate, with a CAGR of 18.3%.
The 5-20 megawatt power-capacity segment is expected to account for the largest share of the market. Energy storage devices are also projected to hold the largest share by component, while management systems are expected to represent the largest share within the management-system segment.
Major companies operating in the market include Tesla, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd., LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. and Panasonic Holdings Corp.
MarketsandMarkets also identified ZincFive, Active Power and Skeleton Technologies as startups and smaller companies gaining traction with specialized energy storage solutions.
