The flash manufacturing reading from S&P Global rose to 55.7 in June from 55.1 in May, a 49-month high, but the Richmond Fed's manufacturing index fell to 4 in June from 13 in May.
Released at the same time, the flash services reading from S&P Global increased to 51.3 in June from 50.7 in May, suggesting faster expansion. The Philadelphia Fed's services measure fell to minus 25.8 in June from minus 23.6 in May, also indicating a faster rate of contraction, while the Richmond services reading fell to minus 1 from 14.
Redbook reported that US same-store retail sales were up 10% year-over-year in the week ended June 20, faster than a 9.4% gain in the prior week due to late Father's Day sales and early promotions ahead of Amazon Prime Days.
State unemployment data for May showed lower rates in the six states and higher rates in two states, with stable rates in other states.
