CPE Technology (KLSE:CPETECH) signed a joint venture agreement with Japan's privately held firm Kanekita to manufacture and sell materials and products using Kanekita's passivation treatment technology for the semiconductor industry, according to a Tuesday Malaysian bourse filing.
Shares of CPE Technology jumped nearly 10% in Tuesday's midday trade.
The Malaysian joint venture company will be 50.5%-owned by CPE and 49.5% by Kanekita under the terms of the deal.
Kanekita will provide technical expertise, while CPE will contribute its manufacturing capabilities and customer network to commercialize the technology.
CPE said the initial investment is not expected to have a material financial impact.
