Cofco Sugar's (SHA:600737) net profit attributable to shareholders in the first half rose 37% to 608.3 million yuan from 444.9 million yuan a year earlier, according to a Friday disclosure on the Shanghai bourse.
Earnings per share increased year on year to 0.28 yuan from 0.21 yuan.
Operating revenue fell 21% to 9.28 billion yuan from 11.8 billion yuan in the prior year.
The sugar company's shares jumped 5% at the close.
Kawan Renergy (KLSE:KENERGY) unit Magenko Renewables (Ipoh) received approval from the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia for a 2.5-megawatt biomass power plant under the 2026 Feed-in Tariff system, according to a Thursday Malaysian bourse filing.The project has an installed capacity of 2.5 megawatts, and net export capacity of 2 megawatts. The Feed-in Tariff is scheduled to commence on Aug. 17, 2029, and run for 21 years.The basic tariff is 0.38 ringgit per kilowatt-hour for the first 10 years, and 0.288 ringgit per kilowatt-hour for the remaining period.The project will be financed through IPO proceeds and bank financing, it said.
SBI Holdings (TYO:8473) plans to purchase a 20% stake in Indonesia-based online brokerage Ajaib Group for $270 million by the end of August, making the latter an equity-method affiliate, Nikkei Asia reported Friday.Ajaib offers online brokerage, foreign-exchange margin trading, cryptocurrency and asset management services.
