CME Group (CME) said its average daily volume in June rose 19% to a record for the month of 30.6 million contracts from a year earlier, while Q2 ADV reached 29.8 million contracts, the second-highest for the period in the exchange operator's history.
June trading was driven by record equity index ADV of 10.1 million contracts and record agricultural ADV of 2.3 million contracts, the company said Thursday in a statement.
Cryptocurrency ADV jumped 76% to 334,000 contracts, while interest rate ADV increased 17% to 13.6 million contracts.
In Q2, equity index ADV rose 13% to 8.6 million contracts, agricultural ADV increased 6% to 2.1 million contracts, and cryptocurrency ADV climbed 32% to 250,000 contracts.
