Civil Nuclear Deal Contingent Upon Saudi Arabia Joining Abraham Accords, Trump Says

The civil nuclear deal between the US and Saudi Arabia is contingent upon the kingdom joining the Abraham accords, President Donald Trump said Thursday.

"The Civil Nuclear Deal (there will be no enrichment of material!) being made between the United States Department of Energy and Saudi Arabia, which pertains only to non-military use such as the ones that Iran and UAE (and others) already have, will be approved, but is totally subject to Saudi Arabia joining the very respected and successful Abraham Accords," Trump said in social media post on Truth Social.

"The United States is not opposed to Civil (Non-Enriched) Nuclear Facilities," he added.

The two countries have signed a deal for peaceful nuclear cooperation, an agreement that has a reach of multiple decades and will entail billions of dollars of business, the US Department of Energy said in a statement on Wednesday.

The deal was signed by US Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Saudi Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman, along with an accompanying bilateral safeguards agreement, the statement said.

Total demand on Wednesday averaged 80.6 Bcf/d, up 6.3% on the year.LNG export feedgas flows reached 17.9 Bcf/d, up 7.9% from the previous week, well below capacity as Freeport LNG continues maintenance through August.The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis said Wednesday that warm weather around the globe, combined with supply disruptions in the Middle East, has boosted export prices.It said the Asian benchmark LNG price for September delivery has climbed above $19/MMBtu, more than double market expectations at the start of the year, underscoring robust global demand and continued tightness in international gas markets.

This brings the total number of confirmed maritime security incidents in the region to 61 as of Monday.The IMO tracker provides a daily log of verified strikes on ships attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz since the conflict began, with the earliest incident recorded on March 1.
