The Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER) has raised its economic growth forecast for Taiwan to 10.35% for 2026, citing strong demand for artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and advanced semiconductor processes.
With the rise in demand, Taiwan's exports and corporate investment continue to grow as manufacturers expand capital expenditures to increase production capacity, the think-tank said in a press release Wednesday.
The revised forecast represents a jump from CIER's previous projections of 7.22% issued in April and 4.14% in January.
CIER also raised its 2027 GDP growth forecast to 3.71% from 3.4% and lifted its forecast for consumer inflation to 2.02% this year, marginally higher than the central bank's 2% target.
