China said it supports discussions on fair competition, including restricting industry subsidies "that distort market competition", a Ministry of Commerce official said Thursday.
Commerce Vice Minister Li Chenggang, who is also China's international trade representative, made the statement at the World Trade Organization in Paris.
The remarks came after the OECD, or the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, released a report that found that Chinese firms received government grants three or eight times more than firms in OECD countries.
China has rejected the report, calling it "one-sided" and "biased."
