China's retail sales slightly rose 0.2% year on year in April to 3.725 trillion yuan, according to Monday data from the National Bureau of Statistics.
The current figures are a sharp drop from the 1.7% growth in March and missed forecast of a 2% rise, according to Reuters.
Excluding automobiles, retail sales during the month climbed 1.8% to 3.422 trillion yuan.
Among consumption type, retail sales of goods slipped 0.1%, while catering revenue jumped 2.2%.
