Business activity across China's private service sector expanded softly in July, with the headline RatingDog China General Services Business Activity Index, compiled by S&P Global, coming in at 50.4, according to data released on Wednesday.
The latest reading missed the 53.7 consensus forecast tracked by Investing.com and compared with the 54.1 recorded in the previous month.
It contrasted with the official government non-manufacturing PMI, which stood at 49.
The monthly momentum was primarily driven by slower growth in business activity and new orders, although both remained in expansion territory.
Employment increased for a third consecutive month, while easing cost pressures enabled firms to continue raising output charges.
