China's banks extended 1.61 trillion yuan in new yuan loans in June, according to data from the People's Bank of China on Wednesday.
The figure missed the consensus forecast of 1.95 trillion yuan tracked by Investing.com, but was significantly higher than the 520 billion yuan extended in the previous month.
In the first half of 2026, new yuan loans totaled 10.72 trillion yuan, down from 12.92 trillion yuan in the same period a year earlier.
