Profits of China's major industrial firms rose 15.1% year over year in June, softer than the 21.1% gain in May, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released on Monday.
In the first half of 2026, industrial profits jumped 18.7% year over year to 3.948 trillion yuan, slowing from 18.8% in the previous five-month period. It missed the Trading Economics forecast for a 19.2% growth.
From January to June, the mining industry achieved a total profit of 574.5 billion yuan, up 33.5% year over year, while the manufacturing industry's profit grew 20.1% to 2.971 trillion yuan.
Meanwhile, the electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply industry recorded a total profit of 402.27 billion yuan, a decrease of 4.2%.
