China's annual consumer inflation remained steady at 1.2% in May, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Wednesday.
The reading was lower than the consensus forecast of 1.3%, and was in line with the 1.2% pace recorded in the previous month.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose 1.1% year over year, easing from 1.2% in April.
