Canfor (CFP.TO) will shut down the Fox Creek sawmill in Alberta, citing weak market conditions, high US tariffs and fibre supply disruptions.
The closure will represents a production capacity loss of 120 million board feet, the forest products company said late Tuesday.
Canfor expects to cease operations at Fox Creek by late summer.
Centerra Gold (CG.TO, NYSE: CGAU) after the close on Tuesday announced second-quarter net earnings of $0.40 per share, or $79.3 million, compared to $0.26, or $52.7 million, in the prior year period.Analysts on FactSet expected $0.39 per share.Revenue during the period ended on June 30 stood at $442.7 million compared to $288.3 million in the same period last year. Canterra said it remains on track to achieve its 2026 copper production guidance of 50 to 60 million pounds.Meanwhile second-quarter gold sales were 72,114 ounces at an average realized gold price of $3,437 per ounce and copper sales were 13.4 million pounds at an average realized copper price of $5.30 per pound, the company notedIts board also approved a quarterly dividend of C$0.07 per common share - approximately C$13.7 million or $9.7 million in aggregate.Company's shares edged lower $0.06 to $16.01 at last look in after-hours trading in the US. They closed down C$0.58 to C$22.70 on Toronto Stock Exchange.
First Quantum Minerals (FM.TO) after trade Tuesday reported a Q2 adjusted loss of $0.13 per share, compared with adjusted earnings of $0.02 per share a year ago.Analysts polled by FactSet expected a loss of $0.06 per share.Revenue for the quarter ended June 30 was $1.52 billion, up from $1.23 billion a year earlier.Analysts expected revenue of $1.40 billion.The company said its 2026 guidance remains unchanged, however, it "continues to note a potential impact to C1 copper cash costs of approximately $0.25 per lb to reflect the year-to-date impact of higher fuel prices and Zambian kwacha rates as well as potential further impact if current fuel prices and Zambian kwacha rates persist for the remainder of the year."
Jushi Holdings (JUSH.CN) reported a second-quarter net loss of $0.04 per share, compared with a net loss of $0.06 per share, in the year-ago quarter.FactSet expected a loss of $0.05 per shareThe cannabis company said revenue rose to $71.30 million from $65.05 million a year earlier, surpassing FactSet expectations of $67.5 million.As of June 30, the company had $35.5 million in cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash.Jushi shares closed down C$0.02 to C$0.55 on the Canadian Securities Exchange on Tuesday.
