Oil prices continued to climb Thursday morning as President Trump vowed economic warfare on Iran and its allies, in a campaign he termed as "Economic D-Day".
Iran's state media dismissed the threats as nothing new, Al Jazeera reported.
West Texas Intermediate September crude oil futures, the US benchmark, climbed 2.5% to $87.99 per barrel. October Brent oil futures, the international benchmark, climbed 2.5% to $93.90 a barrel.
Comex gold December futures fell 0.4% to $4,527 per ounce.
In agricultural commodities, wheat futures for December delivery edged up 0.8%, to $7.03 per bushel, while canola November futures fell 1.7% to C$818.20 per tonne.
