BriaCell Therapeutics (BCT.TO) Monday said it is presenting final Phase 2 data from its Bria-IMT trial as well as data from its ongoing Phase 3 trial at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting taking place in Chicago.
Phase 2 results demonstrated an excellent safety profile and also showed the emergence of a long-term survivor cohort of heavily pretreated metastatic breast cancer patients. Durable survival rates were observed beyond 12 and 24 months, a statement said.
BriaCell's Phase 3 data, which addresses a key challenge of limiting toxicity in patients undergoing treatment, is also "encouraging", said Adam Brufsky, professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh.
"We are increasingly optimistic with the early quality of life and biomarker data from our ongoing pivotal Phase 3 Bria-ABC trial demonstrating sustained clinical activity in patients with advanced MBC who did not respond to multiple prior treatments," said William Williams, BriaCell chief executive.
BriaCell over the weekend said it plans to raise US$4.7 million in a private placement offering of 1.45 million shares priced at US$3.25 each.
BriaCell shares were last seen down $0.46, to $4.57, on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
