Baxter International (BAX) unit Synovis Micro Companies Alliance has entered into an exclusive multi-year distribution agreement with South Korea-based MediThinQ to commercialize the Shiya 3D surgical visualization platform, MediThinQ said Thursday.
Baxter will handle the worldwide rollout of the digital system in stages depending on regulatory requirements and to transition healthcare facilities from traditional optical microscopes, the company said.
The Shiya device uses a high-resolution exoscope with 20x zoom and wearable displays to record and broadcast operations in real time, MediThinQ said.
Financial terms of the distribution agreement were not disclosed.
Baxter International shares were 2.2% higher in Thursday trading.
