Ballard Power Systems Closes $373.5 Million Purchase of GeoPura

Ballard Power Systems (BLDP) has completed the acquisition of GeoPura, a UK-based hydrogen energy provider, for 275 million British pounds ($373.5 million), the company said Friday.

The consideration comprises 82.5 million pounds in cash and about 49.6 million newly issued Ballard common shares and restricted share units that will be settled for additional 1.1 million common shares in 12 months, Ballard said.

As part of the deal, GeoPura is entitled to 27.5 million pounds in additional payments subject to its achievement of certain post-closing financial milestones, Ballard said.

In addition, Ballard named Andrew Cunningham as president, effective upon the deal's closing.
