Australian shares are poised to open flat on Tuesday as a sharp overnight slide in oil prices after US President Donald Trump delayed potential action against Iran offsets concerns over geopolitical risks and lingering supply disruptions.
Overnight, the S&P 500, the Nasdaq Composite, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.5%, 2.1%, and 1.3%, respectively.
In the macroeconomy, the ANZ-Roy Morgan Australian consumer confidence rose 3.5 points to 74.7 in the week of July 27 to Aug. 2, ANZ reported Tuesday.
The monthly household spending indicator and the ANZ-Indeed Australian job ads reports are due at 11:30 am Sydney time.
In corporate news, Credit Corp Group (ASX:CCP) reported Tuesday fiscal 2026 earnings of AU$1.55 per share on revenue of AU$586 million, compared with earnings of AU$1.366 on revenue of AU$545.6 million a year earlier.
Centuria Office REIT (ASX:COF) reported Tuesday fiscal 2026 funds from operation (FFO) of AU$0.112 per share on revenue of AU$172.4 million, compared with FFO of AU$0.118 on revenue of AU$154.3 million a year earlier.
Australia's benchmark index rose 0.5%, or 42.5 points, to close at 9,019.30 on Monday.
