Aptorum Group (APM) said Monday its merger target, DiamiR Biosciences, is collaborating with AlzLabs Precision Diagnostics to evaluate blood-based biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease.
The companies will generate protein and microRNA data from blood plasma samples collected from participants whose amyloid status was confirmed through amyloid PET imaging, according to a statement.
The study will assess biomarker panels both on their own and in combination with DiamiR's CogniMIR technology, the companies said.
Aptorum and DiamiR previously agreed to an all-stock merger under which DiamiR will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Aptorum and the combined company will operate as Niki BioSolutions, with its stock expected to trade under the ticker symbol NIKI.
Shares of Aptorum were up more than 2% in Monday trading.
