Nasdaq-listed materials engineering solutions company, Applied Materials, expanded its manufacturing footprint in Singapore by opening a $500 million campus in the city-state, according to a company press release on Tuesday.
The new facility, which is expected to create over 1,000 new jobs over the next few years, is part of the company's Singapore 2030 Plan.
The facility will serve chipmakers expanding production for AI demand and features autonomous mobile robots, AI-assisted inspection, automated assembly and testing systems.
The facility is also targeting a BCA Green Mark Platinum certification which is the city-state's highest green building rating.
