Amex Gold Mining (AMX.V) completed the portal and the blasting of the first underground development round at its Perron Gold Project in Quebec, it said Wednesday.
The company's underground mining contractor has started development of the underground ramp, said the company.
The company expects the current development program to provide access to the high-grade Champagne Zone and support its planned 40,000-tonne bulk sample program, it added.
"The portal and ramp are being built to production-scale specifications, supporting both the bulk sample and future mine development," said Chief Executive Officer Victor Cantore. "This work will give our team direct underground access to the deposit and represents an important step in the continued advancement and de-risking of Perron."
The company's shares were last seen up C$0.09 to C$4.26 on the TSX Venture Exchange.
