Amex Gold Mining (AMX.V) completed all drill and blast activities needed for the construction of the bulk sample portal at its Perron development site in northwestern Quebec, it said Wednesday.
The company said it expects the completed portal to provide underground access required for its planned 40,000 tonne bulk sample program.
The portal contractor has begun excavation of the blasted material, following the completion of the portal blasting activities, Amex Gold added.
Underground ramp development is expected to begin once ground support installation for the portal is completed, the company said.
"We look forward to commencing ramp development in the near term as we continue to safely and responsibly advance the Perron Project toward bulk sample extraction," said Chief Executive Officer Victor Cantore.
The company's shares were last seen up C$0.31, or 7.8%, at C$4.31 on the TSX Venture Exchange.
