Amazon's (AMZN) Zoox said Wednesday in an emailed statement that it will launch paid robotaxi services in Las Vegas from Aug. 10, after receiving approval from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the same.
Fares will be calculated from a base rate, plus distance and time traveled from pick-up to drop-off, the autonomous ride-hailing company said.
Zoox further said that paid services are currently being launched only in Vegas, and that its San Francisco Zoox Explorers program remains free.
