Alphabet Expands Free AI Video Generation to All Users in Google Vids

Alphabet's (GOOGL) said Wednesday it is expanding Google Vids to let anyone with a Google or Google Workspace account generate AI videos at no cost using its Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash model.

The update adds controls to extend scenes with consistent lighting and characters, set specific clip durations, and generate or upscale video in 1080p HD. Every AI-generated clip will carry a SynthID watermark, Google said.

Google said Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite text-to-speech is coming soon to Vids, adding voiceover generation in more than 100 languages.

The feature is available at vids.new, with expanded capacity offered through Google AI plans and Workspace Business and Enterprise tiers, according to the company.

Spire Global Wins $33.2 Million NOAA Contract for Satellite Weather Data

Spire Global (SPIR) won a $33.2 million contract from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to deliver global navigation satellite system radio occultation data to enhance weather forecasting.The data will feed NOAA's prediction models and support weather forecasting, space weather applications, and research by scientific organizations, Spire said Tuesday in a statement.The two-year contract, which starts Dec. 1, includes additional unfunded surge-buy options that may raise the total value to $66 million if fully exercised, the company said.Spire shares rose 2.2% in after-hours trading.
