Algoma Steel Group (ASTL.TO) resumed electric arc furnace production on Aug. 29 after working with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) for interim power arrangements.
Algoma previously suspended production due to an outage at the company's Lake Superior Power (LSP) generating facility in Canada.
The IESO is reviewing upcoming planned power system outages to minimize potential disruptions at Algoma's operations while the LSP turbine remains unavailable, Algoma said Wednesday.
Algoma said it is pursuing alternatives to restore LSP's full generating capacity, including repairing the turbine and securing a replacement turbine.
Algoma said it continues to review the potential impact of the outage on production and shipments.
