Air Canada Reaches Tentative Agreement With Unifor

Air Canada (AC.TO) has reached a tentative collective agreement with Unifor, the company said on Friday.

Unifor represents 6,000 contact centre, customer relations, concierge, airport in-terminal and customer journey management employees at Air Canada.

Terms of the new agreement are confidential pending a ratification vote by the membership, which is expected to be completed over the next month, as well as approval by the Air Canada board of directors, a statement said.

Air Canada shares were last seen down $0.02, to $20.28, on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

"The Partner is also expected to evaluate REV's potential to support premium product innovation and manufacturing efficiencies across select high-volume product categories."The company expects the evaluation work to begin over the coming months at the partner's facilities and at EnWave's innovation center in Vancouver, Canada.The company's shares were last seen unchanged at C$0.23 on the TSX Venture Exchange.

Brompton Energy Raises $34.5 Million Via Overnight Offering

Brompton Energy Split (ESP.TO) completed a treasury offering of class A shares and preferred shares for proceeds of about $34.5 million, it said Friday.The Class A shares and preferred shares will trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the existing ESP and ESP.PR.A symbols.The Class A shares were offered at $7.95 per Class A share for a distribution rate of 15.1% on the issue price, and the preferred shares were offered at $10.25 per preferred share to yield 7.1%, it said.Shares of the company were last seen down 0.1% at $7.94 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.Price: $7.94, Change: $-0.01, Percent Change: -0.13%

National Bank on CRTC New Canadian Content Requirement For Streamers, Traditional Broadcasters

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) this week announced changes in spending requirements for traditional broadcasters and streaming operators, notes National Bank analyst Adam Shine.Private Canadian broadcasters will be required to contribute 25% of their annual Canadian broadcasting revenues to Canadian programming expenditures (CPE) versus current levels of 30%-45%.The CPE requirement for online streaming services is being tripled to 15%. "We'll see how this plays out given that the prior 5% rate for online streamers with revenues above $25M in Canada was announced on June 4, 2024 and was to become effective for the f2024-f2025 broadcast year," Shine writes.No date has been set for implementation of the new rules.Lawsuits were filed in late 2024 by several U.S. streamers with the Federal Court of Appeal and the court paused the payment obligation which was due Aug. 31, 2025.
