Aecon Group (ARE.TO) said Thursday it will add C$649 million to its construction-segment backlog for the fiscal third-quarter after its joint venture with FCC Canada, ONxpress Civils Contractor General Partnership, secured contracts with Metrolinx for the GO Expansion project in Ontario.
The balance of Aecon's share of $65 million was added to its backlog in the second quarter, a statement added.
"The GO Expansion program is one of the largest infrastructure investments in Canada - transforming transit across growing regions, providing economic benefits, improving mobility, and more efficiently connecting communities for decades to come," said chief executive Jean-Louis Servranckx.
Aecon shares were last seen up C$1.12, or 2.5%, to C$45.08 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
