Acumen Pharmaceuticals Exercises Option on Alzheimer's Program Using JCR's Technology

Acumen Pharmaceuticals (ABOS) exercised its exclusive option to develop, manufacture and commercialize up to two Alzheimer's disease candidates under a collaboration with Japan's JCR Pharmaceuticals.

The program uses JCR's technology to enhance delivery of Acumen's Alzheimer's candidates to the brain.

JCR said Wednesday it is eligible to receive up to $40 million in development milestones, up to $515 million in sales-based milestones, and tiered royalties on future product sales.

Acumen plans to file an investigational new drug application for the program in mid-2027, JCR said.

Consumer stocks edged up late Tuesday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) each fractionally higher.In corporate news, Rivian Automotive (RIVN) laid off hundreds of employees, or under 2% of its workforce, Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a company spokesperson. The layoffs affected workers in the electric-vehicle maker's service and customer organization, the report said. Rivian shares fell 4.3%.
