-- US ethanol dropped while biodiesel production rose to start the year, according to the Energy Information Administration's Monthly Energy Overview released on Monday.
The report, which shows recent and historical US energy statistics, pegged ethanol production in January at 33.73 million barrels, down from 35 mmbbls in December.
Ethanol consumption dropped to 26.3 mmbbls compared with 29.9 mmbbls in December.
Biodiesel production in January rose to 2.16 mmbbls versus 2.02 mmbbls in December. Biodiesel exports plunged to 27.37 mmbbls in January from 69.31 mmbbls in December 2025. Biodiesel consumption in January totaled 22.40 mmbbls, up from 21.07 mmbbls in December.
Also, renewable diesel production dropped in January to 4.68 mmbbls, compared with 6.08 mmbbls in December. RD consumption in January fell to 3.36 mmbbls, down from 5.51 mmbbls in December.
