-- The European Commission and Moldova held their 7th High-Level Energy Dialogue on Tuesday, reinforcing cooperation on energy security and market integration.
EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen and Moldova Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu co-chaired the meeting in Brussels, with the Energy Community Secretariat also participating.
"The world is facing what is arguably the most severe energy crisis in its history... testing the resilience of our economies, our societies, and our partnerships," Jorgensen said, adding that the EU-Moldova energy partnership remains strong and forward-looking.
"We share a clear and pressing interest in deepening our cooperation even further. As Moldova progresses along its path toward European Union accession, building a secure, sustainable, and independent energy system remains a central pillar of our joint efforts," Jorgensen added.
The discussions centered on energy security, seasonal preparedness, and reforms in electricity and natural gas markets, alongside infrastructure development priorities.
Participants also focused on renewable energy expansion and energy efficiency measures, as both sides aim to modernize Moldova's energy system and align it with European standards as part of its path to European Union accession.
The bloc reaffirmed continued political, technical and financial support for Moldova, as the dialogue, launched in 2021, remains a key platform for advancing cooperation.
